SOUTH BEND - John D. "Jay" Markin, 20, of South Bend,
passed away on Tuesday April 27th at 3:30 p.m. at his brother's
residence. Jay was born on May 1, 1989 in South Bend and resided
in the area his lifetime. He is survived by his loving parents,
Dawn M. (Randy) Ritz of Plymouth and Shawn R. (Brenda) Markin of
Walkerton, IN. A sister, Rebecca C. Markin of Walkerton and by a
brother, Shawn C. (Tricia) Markin of South Bend. A stepbrother,
Keith A. Ritz of Mishawaka, IN. His maternal grandparents, Harold
and Helen Althouse of South Bend and paternal step-grandmother,
Roberta Ritz of South Bend. Also surviving is the love of his
life, his fiancée, Emily A. Thompson of South Bend. Jay was a
carpenter by trade and a member of the Carpenters Union 413 in
South Bend. He loved woodworking, fishing and being outdoors. His
loving family and Emily, whom he cherished, will dearly miss him.
Jay was a good person, who loved his family as they did him. Death
leaves a heartache No one can heal, Love leaves a memory No one
can steal. Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday
April 30th in Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel"
Funeral Home, located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South
Bend. Funeral services will take place Saturday May 1st at 11
a.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Michael Jenkins officiating.
Burial to follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery. The family request
that all memorial contributions be made to St. Jude
Children's Research Hospital , P.O. box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN
38148-1412. The HANLEY and SONS "Southwest
Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and services and
extend its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Markin
family.
