MISHAWAKA - Ada M. Marker, 92, formerly of Mishawaka and
River Park, passed away at Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa, IN, on
Tuesday, March 4, following a brief illness. She was born on
November 23, 1915, to John and Martha (Yackley) Von
Bergen, who have preceded her in death.
On October 23,1937, she married Loren D.
Marker, who preceded her in death on April 28, 2000, after 62
years of marriage. Surviving are two sons and their families,
John and Judy Marker of Wakarusa, and Mark and Linda Marker of
Mishawaka. There are four grandchildren, Teresa (Kevin) Gentry,
Scott (Heidi) Marker, Dr. Jason (Kirsten) Marker, and Emily
(Mark) Curtis. Great-grandchildren are Ellen, Hannah and
Lauren Marker, Noelle, Kiara, Keyton and Kendall Marker; and
Maxwell, Lillian and Adeline Curtis. Also surviving are
sisters-in-law Mary Marker, Lorraine Kish, Barbara Von
Bergen and Sandy Geyer, in addition to several nieces and
a nephew. She was preceded in death by three brothers. Rex Von
Bergen, John Von Bergen, Jr., and Ted Geyer. Ada and Loren owned
Marker's Food Market in Mishawaka for many years. She later
worked for Ferman Meat Market and Hahn's Best Feed. She was a
member of Coalbush United Methodist Church, formerly was active
in the Mishawaka Fellowship Club, and volunteered for Meals on
Wheels.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday,
March 9, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St., Mishawaka. The
funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 10, at Coalbush
United Methodist Church at the corner of Bremen Highway and
Jackson Road. Friends may also call at the church one hour prior
to the service. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery, Woodland,
