Richard E. "Dick" Mariotti Sr.,
76, of Normandy Drive, Mishawaka, passed away at 6:08 p.m.
Friday, May 24, 2002 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
He was born October 28, 1925 in Chicago,
Illinois to the late Olinto and Gertrude (Holk) Mariotti and has
resided here since January 1952, coming from Chicago, Illinois.
On May 10, 1952, in Mishawaka, Indiana, he married Joan M.
Kaminski who survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Nancy
(Chris) McFarland of Horton, MI, Lisa (Larry) Melin of Mishawaka,
IN., and Janet (Mark) Gruwell of Elkhart, Indiana, one son,
Richard E. (Kimberly) Mariotti Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO. Also
surviving are eleven grandchildren, Rebecca Mariotti, Jane Alice
McFarland, Daniel, Samantha and Jack Mariotti, Sarah Melin, Emily
Melon, Philip Melin, Ruth Melin, Jessica Gruwell, Melissa Gruwell
and one sister, Leila (Raymond) Lynch, Grosse Pointe, MI. and one
brother, Clyde (Shirley) F. Mariotti of Sarasota, FL.
Mr. Mariotti received his bachelor of
science degree in education from Northern Illinois and his
masters in education from Indiana University. He worked as a
Senior Production Planner for the former Uniroyal Corporation,
retiring in 1982 after 30 years of services. He was a World War
II Navy Veteran, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Mishawaka,
and served 45 years in the Red Cross where he taught disaster
courses for 10 years. After his retirement, Mr. Mariotti enjoyed
traveling.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at
10 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Of
Mishawaka. Rev. Robert A. Yast will officiate. Burial will be on Thursday,
May 30, 2002 in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 28, in the Palmer
Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Mariotti
may be offered to Children's Memorial Hospital of Chicago,
Illinois, Alzheimer's Association or Riley Children's Hospital
of Indianapolis, Indiana.
