Joan M. Mariotti, age 72, of Normandy Drive, Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Healthwin Nursing Home. She was born February 24, 1931, in Mishawaka, Indiana, to Stephen and Minnie (Feitz) Kaminski.

On May 10, 1952, in Mishawaka, as Joan M. Kaminski, she married Richard E. Mariotti Sr. Richard preceded her in death on May 24, 2002.

Joan was a lifelong resident of Mishawaka. In 1990, after 23 years of service, she retired as a secretary with the Mishawaka School System.

She is survived by three daughters, Lisa (Larry) Melin of Mishawaka, In., Nancy (Cris McFarland) Mariotti of Horton, Mi., and Janet (Mark) Gruwell of Elkhart, In.; and by a son, Richard E. (Kim) Mariotti Jr. of Colorado Springs, Co. Also surviving is her sister, Judith Slater of Kalamazoo, Mi., and 11 grandchildren.

Joan loved to play Bridge and was an avid bird watcher. She enjoyed cooking for her family and exhibited her caring side by being a blood donor. She attended St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Mishawaka, In.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2003, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, where friends may call on Monday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Interment will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan, alongside of her husband, Richard Sr. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
