Rev. John J. Marek CSC, 77, of Holy
Cross House, Notre Dame, died Saturday. He was born Sept. 15,
1914 in Chicago; made his first profession in the Congregation of
Holy Cross in 1932; and he was ordained a priest June 24, 1940.
From 1940 to 1966 he served on the
Holy Cross Mission Band and the retreat and
preaching apostolate. He also served at the University of Notre
Dame. He also served as a hospital and high school chaplain until
his retirement.
Services will be Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in
Sacred Heart Basilica, Notre Dame, with burial in Holy Cross
Community Cemetery. Friends may call at Moreau Seminary at 3:30
p.m. where a wake services will be at 7:30 p.m.
