Jo Ann Marciniak, 98, of Transitional
Health Services of South Bend, Ind., died at 5:35 p.m. on Monday,
May 11, at the nursing facility. She was born on November 25,
1899, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was married on April 19, 1920, in
Chicago, Ill., as Jo Ann Cwidak, to Adam Marciniak. He
preceded her in death on August 14, 1966. Mrs. Marciniak is
survived by a daughter, Gertrude (Ralph) Boren of South
Bend; a son, Ernest Marciniak of South Bend; twenty
grandchildren, thirty-two great grandchildren, eight great great
grandchildren; and by a sister, Helen Thomas of South
Bend. Mrs. Marciniak was preceded in death by three sons, Ted
Marciniak, Richard Marciniak, and Edward Marciniak; a daughter,
Rita Dolly; a sister, Nettie Wesolowski; two step
sisters, Josephine Ladeolas and Bernice Kurecki;
and by a step brother, Leo Haniezynski.
Mrs. Marciniak was a member of the Polish
Women's Alliance Group #305, American Legion Auxiliary Post #284,
Harvest House of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Polish women's
Democratic and Civic Club, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary
Post #9820.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in
the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a
Rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m. Services will be held at 9:00
a.m. on Thursday in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with burial
to follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
