Rose Marando, 72, of Spring Mill Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after a brief illness at 4:16 a.m. on Monday, April 9, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind.

Rose was born on Aug. 5, 1928, in Indianapolis, Ind., to the late Joseph and Minnie (Sferruzzi) Mittiga.

On May 7, 1949, in St. Monica Church, Mishawaka, Rose married Don Marando, who survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Dawn Marando of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sons, Anthony Marando of New York City and Mark Marando of Long Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Elizabeth "Betty" Mittiga and Joann O'Neil of Mishawaka; and by a brother, Frank "Sonny" Mittiga of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Rose was a 1946 graduate of Mishawaka High School. She and her husband Don had just returned to live in Mishawaka the past few years after spending many of the past years living in California and Hawaii.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 10, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, in St. Monica Church, with Fr. Derrick Sneyd officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Rose's family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph County Special Olympics, P.O. Box 643, Mishawaka, IN 46546-0643.
