Raymond H. Manzer

June 10, 1917 - Feb. 20, 1997

SOUTH BEND - Mr. Raymond H. Manzer, 79, formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away at 5:40 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, in Elkhart General Hospital.

Mr. Manzer's residence at the time of his death was 22834 Selby Drive, Elkhart, Ind. He was born on June 10, 1917, in Coldwater, Mich. Mr. Manzer moved to Elkhart in 1973, coming from South Bend.

He retired from the Indiana-Michigan Power Company in 1977. He and his wife Jeanette were former owners of the Drake Motel, located at U.S. 31 and Kern Road in South Bend.

On Dec. 18, 1945, in Barberton, Ohio, he married Jeanette May Mayle, who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Lawrence (Larry) R. Manzer of South Bend and Daniel J. Manzer of Elkhart; two loving grandchildren; two sisters, Esther Lupa of Franklin, N.C., and Dorothy Waterbury of Niles, Mich.; and by two brothers, Robert Manzer of Ocala, Fla., and Roy Manzer of Florida.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23, at Hanley & Sons Funeral Home, Southwest Chapel, West Ireland Road at Indiana 23, South Bend.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Joseph County Cancer Society, or to the charity of donor's choice.
