Mary V. Manuszak, 82, of 20125 Lark
Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 2:45 p.m. on Thursday,
Sept. 2, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Manuszak
was born on May 15, 1917, to Louis and Rose (Ambruz) Sarvari,
Sr., and lived in this community all of her life. Mary was a
devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was extremely humble
and did tasks that no one else cared to do. She worked for 19
years at Hank's Friendly Super and was a school crossing guard.
She worked with many charities and was a Cub Scout den mother.
Mary was a bookkeeper for a Justice of the Peace in Clay
Township, was secretary and treasurer for the Izaak Walton League
and helped with the Mishawaka food drive for the needy. She was
also a member of the Knights at the Foot of the Cross and worked
on numerous committees at Christ the King Catholic Church. Mary
was an outstanding cook and an excellent entertainer.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years,
John ''Big John'' Manuszak; a daughter, Joan L. (Joseph) Keller
and a son John L. (Anita) Manuszak of South Bend; by seven
grandchildren, Debbie Shishman, Kathy Casper, Kim Guennel,
Diane Keller, Nick Manuszak, Katie Manuszak and Jonathon
Manuszak; and by three great-grandchildren, Megan Shishman, Jesse
Casper and Jacob Casper.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
on Monday, Sept. 6, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix
Drive, South Bend, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on
Tuesday, Sept. 7, in Christ the King Catholic Church, with Rev.
Tom Jones officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to
