Porter H. ''Port'' Mann, 87, of 55472
N. Hollywood Blvd., died Monday, at 10:50 a.m. in the home of his
cousin William H. Mann of 52161 Brookview Court in South Bend.
Mr. Mann died under the tender care of Hospice of St. Joseph
County. Mr. Mann was the son of George H. Mann and Louis Harris
Baker, born March 7, 1909, in Inwood, Ind., and had lived in
South Bend most of his life.
He married the former Naydean Goldy Peltier
on Aug. 1, 1936, in South Bend. Mrs. Mann died on Oct. 13, 1993.
Mr. Mann is survived by two sisters, Treva Scott, 89, of
Bly, Ore., and Wilma McDaniels, 75, of Southgate, Calif.
Two sisters, Wyland Robinson and Joy Wallace
preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday,
in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, in the Kaniewski
Funeral Home Chapel (219-277-4444). Reverend Greg Crump will
officiate. Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery,
Plymouth, Ind., on Monday, Aug. 19, at 2 p.m. Mr. Mann, who was a
member of the United Auto Workers Union and the Electronics
Technicians Association, graduated from the DeForest Technical
Institute in Chicago. He retired from the Bendix Corporation in
1972, after serving 38 years as a grinder. Memorials may be made
to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
