SOUTH BEND - Robert R. Mangus, 69, of Huffman Drive, died at 8:30 p.m. Friday in his residence. Mr. Mangus retired Dec. 31, 1989, as past president of South Bend Supply Co. Mr. Mangus was a graduate of Wabash College, Crawfordsville, Ind.
Mr. Mangus was born on Dec. 6, 1927, in South Bend and was a lifetime resident. On Oct. 4, 1947, in South Bend, he married Betty L. Hartman who survives along with three children, a daughter, Cindy Beckman of Warner Robins, Ga.; and two sons, Gregory D. and Alen D., both of South Bend.
Mr. Mangus is also survived by five wonderful grandchildren, and one great-grandchild and a sister, Marilyn Bjorkman, of Swarthmore, Pa.
Mr. Mangus was a member of the South Bend Elks 235, an auxiliary member of the FOP lodge 36 and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
The family requests that memorials be made to St. Joseph County Hospice or to the donor's choice.
Friends may call at Hanley & Sons Funeral Home on Monday, Dec. 9, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where a wake service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday.
Services will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church, Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Southlawn Cemetery.
