SOUTH BEND - Jayne Bersell Mangum, 88, of South Bend, died
Friday morning in her home. Ruth Jayne was born January 25, 1920,
to Wilfred Carl and Ruth Elizabeth (Browne) Bersell
of Rockford, Illinois. They preceded her in death, as did her
brother, Eugene T. Bersell, and a son, Robert Mangum Jr.
Jayne married her childhood sweetheart on
July 6, 1945, who also preceded her in death. Jayne attended
schools in Rockford, Illinois, until her family moved to South
Bend. Jayne graduated from Riley High School in 1936, attended
Rockford College, St. Mary's College and classes at Indiana
University. She worked for C.E. Lee Company for 30 years in the
decorating department and was known as the "wallpaper
lady." She leaves two children, Kelly Maurer of
Piano, Texas, and Kim Kimbrell of South Bend; three
granddaughters, Sarah, Holly and Rachel; and four
great-grandchildren. Jayne belonged to Phi Beta Psi National
Sorority, Theta Beta local chapter who maintained a nurse's
scholarship for years at Memorial Hospital in South Bend.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m.
Friday, May 16, in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger,
with Rev. Karl Brenner, pastor of St. Paul's Church, Woodland,
IN, officiating. There will be no visitation. The HICKEY Funeral
Homes & Cremation Service, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., is
assisting the family with arrangements.
