MISHAWAKA - Wilbur H. Manes, 92, of East 4th Street, Mishawaka, passed away at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 28th, in Cardinal Nursing Home, South Bend, following an illness. He was born July 17, 1914, in Berrien Springs, Michigan, to Luther and Macy (Boussout) Manes, who preceded him in death along with a grandson, Joseph Wallace; a sister, Dorothy Bailey; and a son-in-law, Francis Dubie.
On October 20th, 1961, in Mishawaka, he married the former Jean A. Schalliol, who died August 4th, 2005. He is survived by two daughters, Susie (John) Wallace of South Bend and Mary Jo Dubie of Mishawaka. Also surviving are four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Manes was a veteran of the Marine Corps, serving during World War II, and was a member of VFW Post #360 of Mishawaka and VFW Post #85 of Wagner, Michigan.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in St. Andrew's Church of Christ, 320 West 4th Street, Mishawaka. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
