George C. Makris

SOUTH BEND - George C. Makris, 61, of Beach Way, died at 12:58 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital. Mr. Makris was employed by Big C Lumber in contractor sales and was the former owner/president of Moeller-Makris Builders Supply. He was born March 31, 1934, in South Bend.

On June 16, 1962, in Ithaca, Mich., he married Mary W. ''Winnie'' Haley. She survives with a daughter, Carolyn Smith of Columbus, Ohio; two sons, Andrew G. of South Bend and Peter M. of Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren; his mother, Eugenia Makris of South Bend; and a sister, Christine Callas of South Bend. He was a past president of St. Joseph County Home Builders Association, former chairman of Panorama of Homes, a member of Morris Park Country Club, Sacred Heart Basilica and former member of St. Jude's Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Ball State University and an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Jude's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Memorial contributions may be made to Corvilla.
