SOUTH BEND - John B. Makielski, 69, of Fairway Street, died at 8:45 a.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mr. Makielski retired in 1988 from AM General Corp. He was born July 21, 1926, in South Bend.
On Aug. 30, 1947, in South Bend, he married Bernadine Kmitta. She survives with a daughter, Barbara Ryll of South Bend; a grandson; a sister, Mary Ellen Harsh of South Bend; and two brothers, James of Springfield, Va., and Robert of Westminster, Calif. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Bendix Post 284 and Holy Family Catholic Church.
Cremation will take place. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. St. Joseph Catholic Church is in charge of arrangements.
