Louis Major, Jr., 76, passed away on March 22, 2000, in Ocala, Fla. He was born on Feb. 28, 1924, in South Bend, Ind., the son of Louis and Theresa Major. He graduated from Riley High School.

He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He graduated from the University of Michigan Business School in 1947, after which he returned to South Bend where he was in various businesses for the next 30 years. Upon retirement he moved to Ocala to be near the horse business, his favorite pastime.

He is survived by two daughters, Marcia Major Burnham and Susan Veit, two granddaughters, Whitney Veit and Victoria Veit, and his former wife, Nancy Major, all of Ann Arbor, Mich.; and by a sister, Mrs. Earnest (Helen) Toth of Port Richey, Fla.
