Lottie T. Majewski, 84, formerly of
Birchwood Avenue, died Saturday, Sept. 29, in the Saint Joseph
Care Center West, South Bend, Ind. She was born June 24, 1917, in
South Bend, to Frank Dworecki and the former Josephine Was,
who both preceded her in death.
In October 1950 she married Edward George
Majewski, who also preceded her in death, along with her two
brothers, Val and Joe Dworecki, and by her sister, Mary Kowalski.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann (Joe) Novetske
of Charlotte, Mich., and her son, Joseph (Shirley) Majewski of
South Bend. She is also survived by a brother, Stanley
"Boots' Dworecki of Mishawaka, Ind.; six grandchildren,
(Mary Ann's) Matthew, Jonathan and Jessica Novetske; (Joe's),
Jennifer (Tony) Karamitsos, Julie (Jason) Fritz and
Kimberly Majewski; and by two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and
Alexander Karamitsos.
She graduated from St. Hedwig High School,
and received a scholarship to attend St. Mary's College, Notre
Dame, Ind. Due to the financial crunch at the time, she refused
it at her father's request. She worked for Waltman Brothers Meat
Market, and on the line at Studebaker's during and after World
War II. She was also an interpreter for the U.S. government for
Polish immigrants. She worked for over 20 years at the South Bend
Unemployment Office as receptionist, and retired from there in
1980.
She faithfully served the Lord, her family
and friends. She was a Eucharistic Minister for over 10 years,
serving St. Hedwig Parish, Memorial Hospital and several local
nursing homes. She was a member of St. Hedwig Catholic Church,
Ladies Rosary Society, and faithfully attended Holy Family prayer
meetings. Lottie had a heart for the sick, the elderly and the
St. Mary's Holy Cross nuns.
Family and friends may call between the
hours of 2 to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 6 p.m. today, Oct. 2, in
the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3, in St.
Hedwig Church, with entombment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
