Rosalee Mahler, 66, of Mitchell Place, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness of several months at 7:15 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20, in Hospice House, South Bend, Ind.
Rosalee was born on Dec. 22, 1935, in Mishawaka, to the late Martin H. and Clara M. (Snyder) Mahler. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Marguerite Colley on Oct. 21, 2001. On March 30, 1953, Rosalee married William Hoffman Sr., who also preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1976.
Rosalee is survived by two daughters, Brenda Murray of South Bend and Ellen (Keith) Sims of Mishawaka; a son, William (Cheryl) Hoffman Jr. of Mishawaka; six grandchildren, Stephanie and Rick Murray, Tara and Gavin Hoffman, Marc Sims and Nicole Haskins; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Lewis of Mishawaka; three brothers, Richard and Robert Mahler of Mishawaka, and Carl Mahler of Arizona; and by a longtime companion, Jack Thein of Florida.
Rosalee had been working at Claeys Candy in South Bend and also at the Dog and Mug Restaurant. She was a member of the American Legion Post 308 Auxiliary, and was a 1953 graduate of Mishawaka High School. Rosalee was an avid doll collector and garage sale enthusiast.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 23, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where friends may visit with Rosalee's family from noon until the service. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
