Louis J. Maher

Louis J. Maher, 76, of Mount Enterprise, Texas, formerly of Walkerton, passed away in his home on April 27, 2006.

Lou was born in St. Louis, Mo., on August 12, 1929, to Louis C. and Sarah (Fulcher) Maher, who preceded him in death. As a teenager Lou followed his brother Roy to Oregon to work in the wood industry. There he met Joyce Hickey. Lou and Joyce were married in Vancouver, Wash., on August 15, 1946. Joyce preceded him in death in 1989. Also preceding him in death were a brother, Roy Huddleston; his son, Louis J. Maher Jr., who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1968; and by his grandson, Louis J. Maher III.

He is survived by two sons, Rick Maher and wife, June of Walkerton, Ind., and Dave Maher and wife, Toni of Mount Enterprise, Texas; grandsons, Rick Maher Jr. of Rimrock, Ariz., and Mike Maher of Walkerton, IN; and by five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held at Cason Monk Funeral Home, Nacogdoches, Texas, on May 3, 2006.
