John B. Mahank

May 1868 – Dec. 17, 1903

The Mishawaka Enterprise 12/18/1903

After a month's severe illness from typhoid fever, supplemented with an attack of peritonitis, John B. Mahank passed away at the family residence, yesterday morning. It was a sad termination of a useful life, and the family has endured more than its share of affliction. Some 18 months ago a little daughter died, and the remaining daughter has been seriously ill with heart trouble for several months. He was married to Miss Louise Bickel, who with one daughter survives to mourn his loss. He also leaves three sisters Mrs. Alphonse DeCocker, Mrs. George Stoeckinger and Mrs. John Schmitt.

He was a most estimable citizen and will be missed in the community. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Church, Benevolent Society, the Catholic Legion and IOF. He was a valued employee of Mishawaka Woolen Company. Another sad feature of his untimely fate is the fact that he had a handsome new residence nearly ready for occupancy on West Second Street.

The funeral will take place Saturday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Editor: He was buried in St. Joseph Cemetery in Mishawaka.
