Joan Evelyn Magana, 70, died Monday,
Jan. 20, in Hospice House of St. Joseph County. She was born Oct.
23, 1932, in Mishawaka, Ind., a daughter of the late Theodore and
Ethel (Dawson) Kronewitter. Joan's family includes
her sons, Steven (Tami) Cashen of Osceola, Ind., Michael
(Karla) Cashen of Granger, Ind., and Scott (Dawn) Bunkelman
of Granger; her daughters, Peggy (Randy) Barghahn of
Elkhart, Ind., Mindy Havlicek of California and Cindy
Bunkelman of Tennessee; a sister, Marilyn Franks of North
Carolina; and by 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Joan worked as a medical receptionist and
secretary for Doctor Lyle B. Davis of South Bend, Ind., and
Doctor Lloyd Cotter of Santa Ana, Calif. She also worked in Saint
Joseph Hospital in Mishawaka, Michiana Community Hospital of
South Bend and Saint Joseph Hospital of South Bend. Joan was a
member of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and
Medicare since 1993. She was also a member at St. Bavo Catholic
Church.
Friends may call from 2 to 3 p.m. Friday in
the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, 503 W. Third St., Mishawaka,
where services will begin at 3 p.m. Friday. Memorials are
suggested to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
