SOUTH BEND - Frances O. Maffitt, 87, of South Bend, IN, passed away
Saturday, Dec. 1st, in Healthwin Extended Care Facility following an
illness. Miss Maffitt was born on January 1, 1920, in South Bend, IN, to
the late Floyd and Esther (Pointer) Maffitt. She was retired from the
South Bend Tribune in the Circulation Department. Frances was preceded
in death by her brothers, Ken Maffitt and Dale Maffitt. Survivors
include several nieces and nephews, who she treated and raised like her
own children, including a niece, Karen Sicner of Alpharetta, GA. A
memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday December 5th, with
a calling from 5 until 6 p.m. in the McGann Hay Funeral Home, Forest G.
Hay Chapel, 435 S. Ironwood Drive at Jefferson. Officiating at the
memorial service will be Rev. Lauren Hall, associate pastor. She
belonged to and was a volunteer receptionist for many years at Grace
United Methodist Church. She was also a member of United Methodist
