Noel Maenhout, Jr., 69, of South
Bend, formerly of North Liberty, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Monday,
January 3, 2000, in his residence.
Mr. Maenhout was born on February 28, 1930,
in Edinburg, Texas, to Noel and Mary (Thomas) Maenhout,
who both preceded him in death.
He retired in 1991 after 32 years of service
from Allied Signal and was also a lifelong farmer.
On June 19, 1954, in Mishawaka, Ind., he
married Mary Ellen Norton, who survives. Also surviving
are his children, Jennifer (Bob) Rice of South Bend, IN,
Steve (Jean) Maenhout of Aurora, IL, David (Tawni) Maenhout of
North Liberty, IN, Glenn (Vikki) Maenhout of South Bend, IN; 10
grandchildren, Holly Maenhout, Whitney Maenhout, Riley Maenhout,
Kyle Rice, Claire Rice, Drew Maenhout, Morgan Maenhout, Keaton
Maenhout, Anita Zarebi and Christopher Zarebi; two
sisters, Connie Jankowski of South Bend and Carole (Joe) DiSalvo
of Downers Grove, IL; and a brother, Dennis (Karen) Maenhout of
North Liberty.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, in St. Mary of the Assumption
Church.
Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery,
Mishawaka, IN.
Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. on
Wednesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive,
South Bend, where a parish vigil will be held at 6 p.m.
Mr. Maenhout was an Air Force veteran of the
Korean War. He was also Past Grand Knight of the Knights of
Columbus Council #5570, and a member of the Father J.A. Nieuwland
General Assembly 4th Degree.
