Florence A. Maenhout

GRANGER - Florence A. Maenhout, 95, passed away on Friday, March 19, in The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, Elkhart. Florence was born on November 21, 1914, in South Bend, to August and Nathalie (Fleurboi) Landuyt. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 11 sisters and five brothers. On October 9, 1937, in South Bend, as the former Florence Landuit, she married Alfred A. Maenhout, who preceded her in death on August 14, 1992. Surviving are her children, Jean (Chester) Hastings of Taylor, MI, Joyce (Patrick) Monhaut of Bremen, IN, Alfred C. Maenhout of Mishawaka, Richard (Dena) Maenhout of Mishawaka, Janet (Dan) Spencer of Kokomo, IN, and Judy (Ben) Kuczka of Warsaw, IN; 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Florence was a charter member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger, a former member of Eagles Lodge, Aerie 435, and Bendix Retirees. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a very loving and caring, mother, grandmother and friend. She worked for Bendix for 31 years before retiring in 1974. She loved her crafts, bowling and playing cards. Visitation for Florence will be held today, March 21, from 2 to 6 p.m., with a Rosary at 5:15 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 22, at 10:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger, with Monsignor William Schooler officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, where she will be buried next to her husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637 for the Elkhart office; or to St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, IN 46530.
