Rose Mary Jane Macri

Rose Mary Jane Macri, 91, of South Bend, and
formerly of Mishawaka, passed away in the Milton Home on Friday
evening, Oct. 1, following an illness. She was born July 24,
1913, in Massachusetts, a daughter to the late Frank and Theresa
(Iemma) Alo. Rose moved to Mishawaka with her
family when she was a child.
On Jan. 27, 1934, in St. Bavo Catholic
Church, she married Paul A. Macri and they made their home in
Mishawaka. For many years the couple owned and operated Macri's
Villa in South Bend. Rose's Italian cooking was well loved by
many patrons of the family restaurant. The restaurant, homemaking
and family were the center of her life. She also enjoyed needle
work and vegetable and flower gardening, roses being her
specialty. Rose was a long time member of St. Bavo Church.
Her surviving family includes her children,
Paul A Macri, M.D. (Pam) of South Bend, Marie Macri of South Bend
and James V. Macri, DDS (Sandy) of South Bend; a son-in-law,
Michael Pilate of Wichita, Kan.; 14 grandchildren and
several great-grandchildren. Rose was preceded in death by her
husband, Paul; and by a daughter, Sandy Pilat.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Bavo Catholic Church, 511 West Seventh
Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial
will follow at Fairview Cemetery. There is no public visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's
choice. The Macri family is being served by Thallemer, Goethals
& Wells Funeral Home, 503 West Third St., Mishawaka.
