Annette Mary Macknick

SOUTH BEND - Annette Mary Macknick, peacefully left this
world surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, November 11,
2007, in her home. She was born Annette Hernschemeyer in
Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, on March 21, 1933. Annette studied
music at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
She married Frank James Macknick Jr. in
Sheboygan Falls on June 19, 1954. Annette was a talented
musician, playing both violin and piano. Each of her children was
encouraged to pursue musical studies and all gained significant
appreciation for the arts from her. When the family lived in
Mundelein, Illinois, Annette was 2nd chair violinist in the
Waukegan Symphony. Her love of music continued throughout the
years. She was well-known locally as a teacher of numerous violin
and piano students. Frank and Annette loved to travel throughout
the United States and Europe, especially to sites of religious
and musical significance. Annette was involved locally with a
variety of organizations. Her strongest passion, to which she
devoted many decades, was the St. Joe County Right to Life
Organization. In addition, she was an active member of St. Jude
Legion of Mary and the Rosary Sodality. Annette had been a member
of St. Jude Parish since 1979.
Besides her husband, Annette is survived by
eight children, Mary Macknick, Juliet (Stewart) Bluestein,
Paula Kelly, Cheryl (Bill) Madison, Victoria Macknick, Tom
(Betty) Macknick, Christopher Macknick and Patrick (Cara)
Macknick; grandchildren (14) include, Jade and Juliet Kelly,
Billy, Nicholas and Montana Madison, Margaret Champion,
Aaron Bluestein, Zoe, Alison, Jacob and Anna Macknick, Brock Mason
and Gabriel Macknick. She has one great-grandchild, Rylan
Madison. Annette's siblings are Judith Hemschemeyer, Margaret
Wolfe, Christine Hemschemeyer and Bernard Joseph Hemschemeyer.
She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Victoria (Mrs. Frank
Sr.) Macknick, formerly of Sheboygan, now of South Bend, and
numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be on Thursday, November 15,
2007, from 4 to 8 p.m. in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 1827 E.
Ireland Road. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. on
Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. Jude Catholic
Church at 10 a.m., Friday, November 16, 2007. Burial will follow
at Southlawn Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Right to Life
of St. Joseph County.
