SOUTH BEND - Jacqueline T. Lyon, 76, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2008, in her home. Jacqueline was born on June 15, 1931, in Galveston, TX, to Alton and Odessa (Barre) Woods, and had lived in South Bend since 1967, except from 1994-2001 when she lived in Rockport, Texas. She had formerly been employed with Inwoods in South Bend. Surviving are three daughters, Siobhan (Daniel) Szakaly of South Bend, IN, Nora (Michael) Zusi of Mishawaka, IN, and Kathleen Lyon of Washington, D.C.; four sons, Matthew (Nancy) Lyon of Cleveland, OH, Geoffrey (Jennifer) Lyon of Moscow, Russia, Mark (Chris) Lyon of South Bend, IN, and Arthur (Ellen) Lyon of Bloomington, IN; sixteen grandchildren, Marissa and Connor Lyon, Sara and Gabriel Szakaly, Lily, Tommy, Paul, Julia and Ben Zusi, Kelsey, Morgen and Mitchell Lyon, Emily and Mary Lyon, Finnian and Odessa Lyon; two sisters, Judy (Gene) Taber of Garland, TX, and Shirley Woods of Dallas, TX; one brother, Jimmy (Tlaloc Alferez) Woods of New Orleans, LA; and by many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; her son, Tom Lyon on October 14, 1996; and two sisters, Carol Matthews and Kathleen Woods.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 6, 2008, in St. Joseph Parish Church, 226 N. Hill St. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Jacqueline loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed playing games with them. She enjoyed composing poetry, gardening, flowers and puzzles. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's High School or to St. Joseph Tower in South Bend.
