Sister M. Christella CSC, former principal at St. Hedwig School, died Monday night in Saint Mary’s Convent, after an extended illness. The former Stella Lunzy was born in 1887 in South Bend. After receiving her initial education at St. Hedwig and St. Joseph Academy, she entered the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1904, received the habit in 1905, and made her profession of vows in 1907. She taught at St. Hedwig from 1909 to 1937. She also taught at St. Mary’s Academy here and in Michigan City, Anderson, and Peoria, IL. She had been at the convent since 1962.

Friends may call in the convent parlor. Services will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s.
