Ruby T. Lushbough, 84, of 67533 Oak
Road, North Liberty, Ind., passed away after a short illness on
Friday, April 17, at the Lakeland Medical Center in Niles, Mich.
She was born in Blackduck, Minn., on Nov. 5, 1913. She was
preceded in death by her first husband, William Parke,
Jr., of Princeton, N.J. She was married to Dr. Martin Lushbough
on Aug. 14, 1935, in Saukcenter, Minn. He also preceded her in
death on Dec. 1, 1984. She is survived by a son, Dr. Roy B. Parke
of Buchanan, Mich.; two grandchildren, Rebecca Parke and Richard
Parke; two stepdaughters, Charlene Rose of Martinsville,
Ind., and Romona Walker of Bonita, Calif.; three
step-grandchildren, Stacy Young, Sonya Fickett and
Holly Kane; one step-great-grandchild, Daniel Fickett;
several nieces and nephews; and by several cousins in Germany and
the United States. She was a member of the Osteopathic Auxiliary
in South Bend. She was a graduate of Bemidji State and St. Cloud
State universities in Minnesota, receiving her BA from Union
College in Nebraska and her MA degree from the University of
Michigan at Ann Arbor. She retired from the South Bend Community
School Corporation in 1980.
Services will be at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, at the First Seventh Day Adventist Church in South Bend where she was a member, and will be officiated by Pastor Ed Barnett. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will take place at Westlawn Cemetery, North Liberty. Memorial donations may be made to the church. Arrangements are being made by the A.M. Manuel Funeral Home.
