Beloved wife, mother and friend to all, Nancy
E. (Sinkiewicz) Ludwig, 51, of Timberline Trace, Granger,
passed away in her home on Thursday, Oct. 14, following a lengthy
illness. She was born on Nov. 20, 1947, in South Bend, Ind., to
Edward and Marie (Markanich) Sinkiewicz. She was
preceded in death by her father, Edward; and by her brother,
William Sinkiewicz.
On July 29, 1968, in Mishawaka, Ind., she
married Michael R. Ludwig, who survives. She is also survived by
two sons, Edward (Bridget) of Granger and William (Lisa) of
Mishawaka; a daughter Andrea (Jeff) Stapleton of Havelock,
N.C.; her mother, Marie; and by a sister, Sue Ellen Smith
of LaPorte. Mrs. Ludwig was an elementary teacher for the School
City of Mishawaka for 29 years. She spent 26 years at Fred J.
Hums, where she was nominated for Teacher of the Year for the
1992-93 school year. She was a past president, vice president and
contract negotiator for the Mishawaka Educational Association.
Mrs. Ludwig was also active in many community projects, such as
helping with the Valmeyer, Ill. Flood Relief. As a teacher at
Hums, she assisted with the outdoor education program at Camp
Eberhart on Corey Lake in Three Rivers, Mich., for 18 years. Mrs.
Ludwig devoted all of her time, attention and resources to her
school children, friends and family. We were all very blessed to
have been touched by her love, generosity and kindness. She will
be missed very deeply by all.
Visitation for Mrs. Ludwig will be today
from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the
Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. Private
services for the family will be held on Monday. Donations may be
made in her memory to Hospice of St. Joseph County, St. Joseph
County Humane Society or Fred J. Hums extra curricular account.
