Brother Brendan Luby CSC, 92, died
Saturday afternoon in St. Joseph Hospital, Mishawaka. He was born
Oct. 21, 1886 in Dublin, Ireland, and entered the Congregation of
the Holy Cross on Mar. 22, 1915. He made his first profession of
vows on Aug. 15, 1917, and was perpetually professed on June 28,
1921. He received degrees from the University of Notre Dame. He
taught at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, and at High
Cross High School in New Orleans. He was a prefect in Brownson
Hall. After completing his teaching assignments, he was appointed
as a canvasser for Ave Maria Magazine, and served
there for 45 years. In 1970 he retired to Columba Hall on the
Notre Dame compus.
Friends may call in the Chapel of Holy Cross
Brothers Center from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, where there will be a
wake at 7:30 p.m. Monday. The funeral mass will be in the
Brothers Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in St.
Joseph Cemetery at the Brothers Center, on the campus of Holy
Cross Jr. College.
