MISHAWAKA - Hazel Jean Lorence, 69,
of 511 E. Broadway St., died at 2:05 p.m. Wednesday in the home
of her son on Ash Road, Osceola, after an illness. Mrs. Lorence
retired in 1979 from Goldblatt's Department Store after 20 years
of service. She was born Jan. 21, 1925, in Mishawaka, and was a
lifelong area resident.
On June 26, 1964, in Mishawaka, as Hazel Wenman,
she married Francis Lorence. He died in 1989. She is survived by
two daughters, Susan K. Bradford of Mishawaka and Diana J.
Pearson of Edwardsburg; three sons, Jonathan E. Montel of
Osceola, Mark F. Montel of Springfield, Va., and Francis L.
Lorence of Hampton, Va.; six grandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren; and a brother, Forrest W. Wenman of Baroda.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Eagles
Auxiliary 2083, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 360,
American Legion Auxiliary Post 161, and Daughters of Union
Veterans Helena Wolfe Tent No. 7.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Bubb
Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St. Burial will be in Chapel
Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and
6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions
may be made to the church choir.
