J. Long Aug.
19, 1901 - Dec. 14, 2001 Emelia
J. Long, 100, of St. Paul's Retirement Community and
formerly of the Park Jefferson Apartments, died at 4:10
a.m. on Friday, Dec. 14, 2001. Mrs.
Long was born on Aug. 19, 1901, to Clara and Edward
Huber, and was a lifetime South Bend, Ind., resident. She
had six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and eight
great-great-grandchildren. On
Dec. 29, 1920, she married Aurice E. Long, who passed
away Feb. 15, 1988. Mrs. Long was also preceded in death
by three sisters and two brothers. Mrs.
Long is survived by two daughters, Eloise Nemeth
Szobocsan of New Port Richey, Fla., and Shirley (Edward)
Nash of Frostproof, Fla., and Dowagiac, Mich.; and by a
half brother, Edward Huber of South Bend. Mrs.
Long retired after 22 years at the Studebaker
Corporation. She was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral
and the Rosary Society. She was also a member of VFW 1167
Auxiliary for 50 years. Mrs. Long was secretary of the
Studebaker Mary Ann bowling league for 15 years and was
inducted into the South Bend WIBC hall of fame. Mrs. Long
was a charter member and past president of Beta Gamma
Upsilon sorority and was an active member of the Beta
Delta Chapter. Mrs. Long spent the last 30 winters in
Frostproof, Fla. A
memorial service for Mrs. Long will be held in the late
spring or early summer. The arrangements are being
handled by Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. |
