Herbert G. Longbrake

March 21, 1902 – December 18, 1978

Herbert G. Longbrake, 76, of 1109 N O’Brien, died at 12:45pm Monday in Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.

Born on March 21, 1902, in Findley OH, he moved here from Bremen in 1940.  He retired from the former Drewrys Ltd. in 1964 and later was proprietor of the Canteen Bar, 511 S. Michigan.

In 1923, he married Hazel Bowser, who died in 1949.  He married Ruth Call in 1950 in South Bend. She survives with four daughters, Mrs. Ted Lewandowski, Mrs. Ronald Ganus, Mrs. Leonard Zawacki and Mrs. Donald Smith, all of South Bend; four sons, Richard of Niles, Douglas of Moweaqua IL, Luther and Keith, both of South Bend; 26 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, and a brother, Esta Yocum of Leesburg.

Friends may call Wednesday afternoon and evening in the Everett Ballard Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where services will be at 10am Thursday.  Rev. Alex Konya, pastor of the Mayflower Baptist Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Bremen Cemetery.
