SOUTH BEND - Barbara Ann (Riggs) Long, 63, of South Bend,
passed away at Memorial Hospital Saturday night at 10:08 p.m.
following a brief illness. Mrs. Long was born to William Leo and
Mary Francis (Downs) Riggs on January 25 1945, in
Bargetown, KY. She was married to Wilfred Edward
"Whitey" Long who died Feb. 2, 1998. Barbara was an
Independent Home Healthcare Qualified Medical Assistant. She is
survived by a daughter, Cindy (Chuck Davis) Weesner of
South Bend; a step-daughter, Judy (Vic) Neese of Osceola;
a grandson Shawn M. Woolley of Mishawaka; two
step-grandsons Brian and Brad Neese; three sisters, Lillian Foster
of Louisville, KY, Louise (Robert) Trout, and Margaret Brittian,
both of South Bend; three sisters-in-law, Karen, Joan, and
Delores Riggs. She is also survived by a special friend she
considered her second daughter, Laurie (Donny Pickett) Scofield.
Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Whitey
Long; and a son, Raymond.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at
McGann Hay Funerals | Cremations | Gatherings, 13260 SR 23,
(enter off Cherry Rd.) The funeral will be Thursday morning at
11:00 a.m. with calling one hour prior to the service in the
funeral home. Burial will be at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park,
Granger. Donations may be made in her memory to the American
Cancer Society.
