SOUTH BEND - Gloria P. Lizzi, 81, of South Bend, passed
away on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, in Saint Joseph Regional
Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. She was born on October
19, 1927, in South Bend, to the late Bert and Theresa (Cukrowicz)
Nowakowski. On May 10, 1947, she married Eugene Lizzi, who
survives. Gloria is also survived by her daughter, Julie (Thomas)
DeVon; her son, Michael (Julie Gonzalez) Lizzi; and
a brother, David (Carolyn) Nowakowski, all of South Bend; five
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was a
parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where she belonged to
the Holy Rosary Society. Gloria was a devoted wife, mother and
grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family. She will
be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM Friday, November 28, 2008, in Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Friday in St. Stanislaus B.M. Catholic Church, with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family would like to thank the 9th floor at Memorial Hospital for all the loving care they gave to Gloria and also to the 4th floor at Our Lady of Peace Hospital, who took care of her in the final days.
