SOUTH BEND Leona M. Liwosz, 86, died on Thursday, February 14, 2008. She is survived by two sisters, Gertrude Downs and Dorothy Bagarus; two brothers, Joseph Jeziorski an Steve Jeziorski; a sister-in-law, Wanda Kielton and several nieces and nephews
Services will be at 1pm Monday, February 18, in Saint John the Baptist Church, 3616 Saint Johns Way, where friends may call from 11am until time of services, and a Parish Rosary will be prayed at noon. Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, is handling arrangements.

SOUTH BEND - Leona M. Liwosz, 86, of South Bend, IN, died
at 11:50 AM Thursday, February 14, 2008, in St. Paul's Retirement
Community. She was born on May 2, 1921, to the late Walter and
Joan (Kuczmanski) Jeziorski in South Bend, IN, and
was a lifelong resident. Along with her parents, one sister,
Loretta Paar, five brothers, Ed "Lefty,"
Leonard, Ben and Harry Jeziorski, and Ralph Lake, also preceded
her in death. Leona was a graduate of South Bend Catholic High
School. Mrs. Liwosz retired in October 1980 from the Bendix
Corporation after 40 years of employment.
As Leona M. Jeziorski, she married John A.
Liwosz in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. He died on June 28,
1995. She is survived by two sisters, Gertrude Downs of
South Bend, IN, and Dorothy (husband George) Bagarus of
South Bend, IN; two brothers, Joseph (wife, Jan) Jeziorski of
Manchester, MO, and Steve (wife, Sharon) Jeziorski of
Schererville, IN; one sister-in-law, Wanda Kielton of
South Bend, IN; and several nieces and nephews. Leona was a
charter member of St. John the Baptist Parish, where she belonged
to the retirees club. She was also a member of the Bendix
Retirees Club and was a lifelong, avid Chicago Cubs fan.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Monday, February 18, 2008, in St. John the Baptist Catholic
Church, 3616 St. Johns Way, South Bend, IN, where a parish Rosary
will be prayed at noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held
at 1:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, in St. John the Baptist Catholic
Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial
contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic
Church, 3616 St. Johns Way, South Bend, IN 46628. Kaniewski
Funeral Home, South Bend, is handling arrangements.
