Doris Mae Littleton

Doris Mae Littleton, 74, residing in
South Bend, Ind., passed away suddenly at 5:45 a.m. on Saturday,
Jan. 11, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Ms. Littleton was born
on April 15, 1928, in Mishawaka, Ind., to the late Earl and Marie
"Bessie" (Criegton) Littleton. She was preceded
in death by her sister, Evelyn, who died in 1999. Ms. Littleton
resided in South Bend until 1951 when she moved to LaPorte
County, Ind. She returned to South Bend in 1975.
Doris was a graduate of Central High School,
South Bend. Following high school she was employed at Robertson's
Department Store, South Bend, and Ball Band Manufacturing in
Mishawaka. She retired from Logan Industries in 1999 after 21
years as a dedicated employee for which she had received numerous
awards. In June 1985, Doris was awarded the Bill Locke Memorial
Award for being an inspiration to others and for facing life's
challenges with positive enthusiasm. Doris was a faithful member
of the L'Arche community and was a participant of the Sacred
Heart Parish of Notre Dame. Doris was truly a beautiful person
who bore life's challenges with wisdom and dignity. She was a
gentle woman who always took time to greet others with her
wonderful smile and show of genuine concern. She was a devoted
friend to many and will be greatly missed.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15, in the Sacred Heart Parish Center,
Notre Dame, Ind. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until Mass
begins. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
Friends are invited to the Parish Center after burial for lunch
and fellowship. Memorial contributions may be made to Friend of
L'Arche, P.O. Box 122, Notre Dame, IN 46556. The Welsheimer
Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
