SOUTH BEND - Isabel M. Lippelt, 93, of South Bend, passed
away on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, in the Cardinal Nursing Home.
She was born on March 25, 1915, in Crown Point, IN, to Frank and
Katherine (Ganser) Deppe. On October 29, 1935, she
married Norman Robert Lippelt in Chicago, IL, deceased (1978).
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Raymond Deppe (1955);
and a son, Douglas Lippelt of Ft. Myers, FL (Aug. 2008).
Survivors include her granddaughter, Jennifer (Lippelt) (Edward,
husband) Riddle, and great-granddaughter, Ava Lippelt,
both of South Bend; former daughter-in-law, Diana Lippelt of
Mishawaka; and two nephews, Michael Deppe of Lake Station and
John Deppe of the Indianapolis area. After many moves throughout
this area and eventually out to California with her family,
Isabel, and her husband eventually settled in on Irvington Avenue
in South Bend, where after the passing of her husband she lived
out the remaining of her years until December 2007, when at 92
she entered a skilled nursing facility. Her interests included
gardening, reading, spending time with her clubs, friends and
family, and going to church. She was also a huge
"Cubbies" fan. Isabel was a faithful Christian and
served the Lord well. As a devoted housewife and grandmother, she
loved spending time with her loved ones, teaching them the
importance of faith, reading, handy-work and how to garden, just
to name a few. She was a member of the Home Extension Miami Club,
Four Seasons Garden Club and the Presbyterian Women's Circle.
Isabel was a very independent, strong woman who lived on her own
30 years after the passing of her husband, leaving an example to
her two granddaughters the value of being strong, knowledgeable,
independent, and being there for your family. We will forever
cherish our time with her, and she will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m. in the McGann Hay Funeral Home, 2313 E. Edison, South Bend. Cremation has taken place. Donations may be made to Harbor Light Hospice in her name and, in lieu of flowers, donations may also be made to the family to help defer final arrangements.
