Stanley Lipowski Sr.: (South Bend Tribune 8/13/2002)

March 27, 1905 - Aug. 10, 2002 Stanley Lipowski Sr., 97, formerly of Portage Highway in South Bend, Ind., passed away at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, in Fountainview Place of Mishawaka, Ind. He was born on March 27, 1905, to the late John and Antonine (Dur-aniezyk) Lipowski in South Bend, and was a lifelong resident. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary and Louise; and by two brothers, Anthony and Joseph. On Aug. 9, 1924, he married Katherine Setlock. She also preceded him in death on May 14, 1993.
Mr. Lipowski retired from the Rieth-Riley Construction Company, Inc., after 30 years as an owner/operator truck driver. Mr. Lipowski also worked at Studebaker's for 16 years and belonged to Teamster's Union Local No. 364. He loved to fish and bowl, and had bowled a 299 game once. He is survived by a son, Stanley F. Lipowski Jr. of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, Lonnie L. and David L., both of South Bend; three great- grandchildren, Leslie Lipowski of South Bend, Lee Lipowski of Angola, Ind., and Sherry Talosa of Killeen, Texas; and by two great-great-grandchildren, Courtney Lipowski of Angola and Calep Talosa of Killeen. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
