Mary E. Lindzy (July 25, 1936 - Dec. 27, 2000)

Mary E. Lindzy, 64, of Laurel Road, South Bend, Ind., died following a lengthy illness at 2:17 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 27, in Hospice House.

Mrs. Lindzy was born on July 25, 1936, in South Bend to the late, Frank and Margaret (Sweitzer) Bayer. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Lindzy; a sister, Phyllis Papoi; and by a brother, Frederick Bayer.

On March 20, 1954, in South Bend as Mary Bayer she married Robert G. Lindzy who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Marsha Lindzy of South Bend; three sons, Robert (Cynthia) Lindzy Jr. of Niles, Mich., Timothy Lindzy of South Bend and Brett (Shannan) Lindzy of Mishawaka, Ind.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Cynthia Lynn (Thomas) Guy of Eckerman, Mich.

She was a lifetime area resident. Mrs. Lindzy was formerly employed in the bakery department of the former Eagle Supermarket in South Bend. Mary attended Forestbrook Missionary Church and was a member of the Clay Township and Niles Township Fire Departments Ladies Auxiliaries. She was also an avid fan of Clay Junior Baseball in which her family participated.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 31 in the WELSHEIMER FUNERAL HOME NORTH, 17033 Cleveland Road, with Rev. Ronald Drake of Forestbrook Missionary Church officiating. Burial will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 2, in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today, Dec. 30, in the funeral home.
