Lindsey, 88, of South Bend, peacefully passed away at 10:51 p.m.
Saturday, March 6, 2010, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center
surrounded by her loving family. Preceding her in death and
joining her in heaven is her loving husband, Kenneth E. Lindsey,
and loving son, Kenneth Gerard Lindsey. She was also preceded in
death by two sisters and one brother. Mrs. Lindsey was born
December 12, 1921, in Hurdland, MO, to the late Florence E.
(Stoner) and Charles Kilbride, and had lived in the South Bend,
Lydick area most of her life. She is survived by a daughter,
Roxanne Gunter (Dave) of Niles, MI; a son, Al Lindsey (Rose) of
South Bend; two grandchildren, Travis Stevanson and Allie Buerk;
and three great-grandchildren, Taylor and Paige Stevanson, and
Willow Buerk. She was a very loving mother and devoted wife of 64
years. Dorothy loved sewing, knitting, crocheting, cooking and
canning for her family and friends. Her kitchen was at all times
full of aromas of something delightful to eat. Her pantry was
picture perfect. Dorothy always displayed many great attributes
such as hard work, dependability, and her selfless spirit that
defined her life. She demonstrated a passionate commitment to
friends and family that is felt by all and will always be
remembered. Her children remember her as the loving mother who
held a lot of pride in all her hard work and was a great cook and
baker with a heart of gold. She loved to keep her children,
husband, home and flower gardens flawless in appearance. She was
charmed by her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved
their devotion to her. She was raised on a small farm in
Hurdland, MO, and played basketball during her high school years.
She came to Lydick, Indiana, to live and join her sister
(Stella). It was here that she met and married her loving
husband, Kenneth E. Lindsey, on July 2, 1944. In respect of
Dorothy's wishes, no visitation or services will be held.
Cremation will take place at Welsheimer Crematory. Dorothy's
family would like to thank the staff of Healthwin Hospital for
all their kindness and loving care. The faculty and workers made
