Nelda E. Liepold

VANDALIA Nelda E. Liepold, 85, of 17301 Lakeview Drive, Vandalia, Mich., died after an extended illness at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12, in Riverview Manor, Three Rivers, Mich.
She was born on Aug. 9, 1915, in Rolling Prairie, Ind., the daughter of the late Charles F. and Edith (Freeze) Houseknecht. She was also preceded in death by three sons, Thomas Liepold, Phil Liepold and Steven Liepold.
Nelda married Richard A. Liepold on June 23, 1938, in Mishawaka, Ind. He survives. She and her husband resided in Mishawaka until moving to Vandalia 24 years ago. Nelda is also survived by two daughters, Mary Ann Brooks of Platte City, Mo., and Barbara Argeropolos of Mishawaka; two sons, James Liepold of Cromwell, Ind., and Paul Liepold of Peachtree City, Ga.; six grandchildren, Todd Liepold, Leslie Monroe, Lisa Kilwein, Matt Liepold, Lauren Argeropolos and Amanda Liepold; and by eight great-grandchildren.
Nelda was a retired registered nurse and had worked at the St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka, and then at the Country Side Nursing Home in Mishawaka. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Cassopolis, Mich., and was a former member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka. She was also a member of the Golden Age Club in Edwardsburg, Mich.
A funeral Mass for Nelda will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 18, in St. Ann Catholic Church, Cassopolis. Officiating will be Fr. Donald G. Potts, pastor at St. Ann Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 17, in the Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis, with a prayer service to be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday.
