SOUTH BEND - Benedict R. Leyba, 64,
of North Olive Street, died at 8:25 a.m. Sunday in Washington
County Memorial Hospital, Salem, Ind., of natural causes. Mr.
Leyba was employed by the Bendix Corp. for 13 years and was owner
of Ben's Tire Clinic. He was born Jan. 5, 1930, in Trinidad,
Colo., and lived in South Bend since 1950, coming from Trinidad.
He is survived by his fiance, Kathie Inwood
of Grand Rapids; six sons, Ben J., Michael A., Bernard D.,
Gerald, and James M., all of South Bend, and John A. of
Sacramento, Calif.; his mother, Serafina Leyba of South Bend; a
sister, Bernice Cook of Elkhart; and a brother, Robert of
South Bend. He was a veteran of World War II and member of United
States Auto Club.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in
Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph
Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in
St. Joseph Funeral Home, where a parish rosary will be said at 7
p.m.
