Jack L. Lewis, 69, of 23rd Street,
South Bend, Ind., passed away on Wednesday morning, May 31. With
his family at his side, he completed his journey home to God. He
was born on March 14, 1931, to the late Lloyd and Mildred (Wolfan)
Lewis in Lansing, Mich. He was also preceded in death by a
brother, Theodore.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta (Erlandson);
his son, Robin (Tami); and by a brother, Lloyd (Carol) Lewis,
Jr., of North Augusta, S.C.
Jack worked most of his life as a brick
mason and as a self-taught machinist. He was a member of
Eckankar, religion of the Light and Sound of God, for over 25
years. He was a very loving, compassionate and spiritual person
who never knew a stranger. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and
woodworking. Some of his best times were spent taking drives with
his wife just to see what was off the beaten path. We will miss
his zest for life, his never-ending love to laugh and, most of
all, his willingness to help whenever needed. He gave us all a
good example of how to live life to the fullest.
Jack's family would like to extend most
grateful thanks to the staff of ICU at Saint Joseph's Medical
Center, South Bend, to the staff of the Transitional Care Unit of
St. Joseph Hospital, Mishawaka, Ind., and to the entire staff of
Regency Place, South Bend. Their support was invaluable.
Cremation and private services will be held.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Jack's life with his
family at his son's home (1110 E. Mishawaka Avenue, Mishawaka)
from 2 to 6 p.m. (Ind. time) on Sunday, June 4. May the blessings
be!
