Clara Levan, 91, of St. Paul's
Retirement Community, died at 2:50 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, in
the nursing facility. She was born on May 15, 1907, in South
Bend, Ind., and was a lifelong area resident. She was an employee
of the former Torrington and retired from the former Carlyle
Nursing Home in 1979. On April 8, 1926, in South Bend, as Clara Kaminski,
she married Theodore Levan, who preceded her in death on Dec. 17,
1983. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Stanley
Kaminski; and two sisters, Theresa Miller and Antoinette
Kaminski. She is survived by two daughters, Ruth (Stanley) Nycz
and Gertrude Dowling, both of South Bend; two sons, Ted
(Lorraine) Levan and Eugene (Pat) Levan, both of South Bend; ten
grandchildren; eighteen great- grandchildren; and by a sister,
Cassie Kubacki of South Bend.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m.
on Monday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road,
where a Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Services will be at 10 a.m.
on Tuesday in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, with burial to follow
in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to
the St. Adalbert Catholic Church Building Fund., 2420 W. Huron
St., South Bend, IN 46619.
