MISHAWAKA - Cynthia M. Calvin Lester, 50, passed away
August 28 after a courageous battle with breast cancer in
Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Born August 22, 1958 in
Indianapolis, IN, to Otis W. Calvin MD and Helen M. Calvin MD who
preceded her in death. On November 1, 1984 in Las Vegas, NV, she
married Randall P. Lester of Mishawaka, IN. She is survived by
her husband, Randy; a loving son, Ryan Paul Lester of Osceola; a
stepson, Tech. Sgt. Andy W. Lester of Wichita, KS, and three
wonderful grandchildren, Jacob, Andrew and Dylan Lester also of
Wichita; a sister, Tamara L. Ciszczon (Ceber Simpson)
of Granger, IN; and two brothers, Olin W. Calvin (Rachel) of
Jacksonville, FL, and Conrad L. Calvin of South Bend; a niece,
Tara L. Ciszczon and three nephews, Thomas Ciszczon and John and
Will Calvin. Cindy was a 1976 graduate of Brethren Christian High
School in Osceola, IN, and attended Indiana University South
Bend. She earned the Daughters of American Revolution National
Citizen Award in 1973. Cindy was employed both as a dental
assistant and Dental Receptionist. Her last employer was at Szabo
Family Dentistry in Mishawka. She had many friends from her field
of work and outside interests. Her friends describer her as
"passionate and energetic and strong willed with amazing
vitality".
A private family service will be held on
Saturday, August 30. An informal visitation will be held Sunday,
August 31 from 1 to 5 p.m. at 10103 Harrison Road, Osceola, IN.
Cindy participated in the Young Survivors support group. The
Young Survivor's mission is to empower women with knowledge,
through awareness, support and inspiration, that will help
navigate them through heir breast cancer journey and beyond. A
Special fund has been set up to honor and celebrate Cindy's
wonderful life. This fund will help support other women when they
are diagnosed. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Young
