SOUTH BEND - Sister M. Redempta (Agnes Anne Lengerich), CSC,
96, died Wednesday, Aug. 1st. Sister Redempta was born in
Decatur, IN, to the late August Lengerich and Ellen Rumschlag
Lengerich. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur,
Aloysius, Julius, Richard and Clarence Lengerich; and her
sisters, Sister M. Eymardine, CSC, and Lucille (John) Brite.
She is survived by her sisters, Amelia Loshe, Mary Ann Dale,
Germaine (Glenn) Straub, all of Decatur, and Dolores
(Carl) Mankey of Craigville, IN; her cousin, Sister M.
Clare Anne, CSC, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame; nieces and
nephews, and many friends. Before entering the Congregation of
the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1930,
Sister was occupied with housework and
clerking in a grocery store. After profession in 1933, Sister
Redempta was in ancillary services at Deming, NM, until 1939, and
at Saint Mary's Convent, Notre Dame, until 1982. Sister was
active in the Saint Mary's Print Shop for the next 14 years and,
as health needs dictated, a volunteer in service to the community
and the Ministry of Prayer until her death. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross
Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556.
