June 3, 1916-March 30, 1998 Stanley Lemanski, 81, of Bonfield Place, South Bend, Ind., died at 10:15 p.m. on Monday, March 30, in his residence. He was born on June 3, 1916, in South Bend and was a lifelong area resident. He was employed as a coal truck driver for Whiteman Coal and Wood, and worked for Singer Manufacturing as a cabinet supervisor for 10 years. He retired as a supervisor from Wheelabrator Frye after 27 years of service. On May 22, 1949, in South Bend, he married Thelma Hoctel, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Peggy Niedbalski of South Bend, and Patty Lovitt-Carr of Granger, Ind.; six grandchildren, Chris Lovitt of Mishawaka, Ind., David Lute and Kathy Lute, both of South Bend, Frances Niedbalski of Bloomington, Ind., John Carr and Jennifer Carr, both of Mishawaka; one great-grandchild, Taylor Carr, a sister, Irene Vegh of South Bend; and by two brothers, Casimir Lemanski of South Bend and Edward Lemanski of Mishawaka. Mr. Lemanski was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Plencner and Josephine Lippy. Mr. Lemanski was an Army/Air Force veteran of World War II and was with the 3rd Air Cargo Resupply Sqraudron. He was a member of American Legion Pulaski Post 357 and a 50-year member of Loyal Order of Loose Lodge 1262, in Mishawaka. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend. Services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday in the funeral home.
