Mrs. Alma Lekens
September 9, 1887 - October 27,
1970
Mrs. Alma Lekens, 83, a resident of
the Carlisle Nursing Home, died at 11:30pm Tuesday after a two
week illness.
Born in Westdorpe, The Netherlands,
in September 1887, she came here in 1907 from The Netherlands.
In 1910, in Sacred Heart Church, South Bend, she was married to
Emiel Lekens, who died in April 1960.
She is survived by a son, Edmond, a
daughter, Mrs. Mary Thomas, both of South Bend; five sisters,
Mrs. Martha Van Wynsberghe, Mrs. Augusta Rinard and Mrs. Bertha
Van Heck, all of Mishawaka and Mrs. Madeline Davidson and Mrs.
Elodie Wulfaert, a brother, Fred Buysse, all of South Bend; 11
grandchildren and a great grandchild.
Friends may call after 7pm today at
the DeVos Funeral chapel, Mishawaka. A parish rosary will
be recited at 7:30pm Thursday at the chapel. Arrangements
are incomplete.

Funeral Notes
Services for Mrs. Alma Lekens, 82,
a resident of the Carlisle Nursing Home, who died Tuesday, will
be held at 10am Friday in the DeVos Funeral Chapel, Mishawaka.
Rev. Joseph Horvath, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, South
Bend, will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka
Friends may call after 7pm today in
the funeral chapel, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30pm
today. Mrs. Lekens is survived by five sisters, Mrs. Elodie
Wulfaert & Mrs. Madeline Davidson, both of South bend, and
Mrs. Martha Van Wynsberghe, Mrs August Rinard and Mrs. Bertha
VanHeck, all of Mishawaka and a brother, Fred Buysse of South
Bend.
